Safeguard Helideck Certification Expand into Larger Offices

The Safeguard Helidecks team are looking forward to moving into larger premises in Falmouth.  Their new office space is at the front of Admiralty House, overlooking the harbour, and has sufficient space for all the team to work together, when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.

Operations Manager Chris Wood is looking forward to using the new office:

“Our team has been growing over the last 18 months, keeping up with our expanding area of work as an Aviation Inspection Body (AIB) on behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).  This meant that we needed a bigger office space where we can all work together and store our equipment. “We can’t wait to get in there together and look forward to the time when we can again fly out to superyachts to conduct Helicopter Landing Area Certificates (HLAC).”

While lockdown rules are in place the team is unable to travel out to inspect superyacht helidecks, but they have been kept busy with design projects for newbuild superyachts and have also been able to offer Helideck Certification Extensions to superyachts where a current certificate is due to expire.  The team are also working with the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry to help make updates and improvements to the REG Yacht Code Annex H and are looking forward to participating in future aviation working groups.

Another growth sector for the team is in the introduction of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and the team has recently been working with Urban-Air Port on the world’s first Vertiport Landing Area.  Perhaps one day we may see these vehicles onboard superyachts, flying owners and guests ashore.

Steve Vickery, Director at Safeguard Helideck Certification commented:

“The Helideck Certification side of our business is growing strongly, and it is great that we have now found suitable space for the whole team in Falmouth. We’re all looking forward to working from the new office once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.”
